The Veteran Banners which you see along some streets of Versailles and Midway are a cooperative effort between Woodford Post 67 of The American Legion and these cities. They are displayed at the descretion of the respective cities, usually around each Independence Day and Veterans Day. There are more banners in Versailles than there are available places to display them. Therefore, they are displayed on a rotation basis of 48 at a time so if your banner is for Versailles, it likely will not be posted on every occasion. Banners are not hung at the same location every time.
Application
Please see the application for further eligibility and application requirements.
The 2026 application is available below for reference purposes only.
The application period for 2026 has passed and no new applications will be accepted until the next application period in the Spring of 2028.
Hanging and Storing the Banners
The cities have sole control over hanging and removing the banners. If there are more banners than there are places to hang them, not all banners will be displayed on each occasion Also, specific banners are not hung on specific poles each time. Your Veteran could pop up anywhere within the city for which they were bought and, at times, may not be seen at all.
